A mother-of-six who suffered horrific facial burns in a terrifying street acid attack has said her right eye feels like it is being constantly stabbed - as doctors admit it's likely she'll lose the sight in the ravaged eyeball.
Carla Whitlock suffered 'life changing' injuries following the attack in Southampton city centre on Friday night.
Witnesses said her face visibly melted after she had corrosive liquid splattered against her face, neck and arms as she stood outside a restaurant with her partner.
Speaking from her hospital ward today, the distraught 37-year-old opened up about her shock at the sickening attack, admitting that she's still trying to come to terms with how her life has been changed.
But she says she can't even bear to look ahead to her future, knowing she's been left severely disfigured by the targeted attack and that she faces living the rest of her life likely to be blind in one eye.
She said: 'I'm managing as best as I can.
Asked about how she's looking to the future, she responded: 'I can't really see anything at the moment.
'I'm just concentrating on getting my sight back and getting my face cleaned up a bit, that's all I can really think about at the minute.
'I'm okay. My partner's helping me a lot so I'm just trying to manage as best as I can.
'It's changed my life completely. It's changed everything.
'It's painful. My eyes are swollen at the moment.
'It's going to get more painful before it gets better. It just feels like someone is stabbing me in the eyeball all the time.'
She added: 'I would like to say thank you very much to the bouncers outside of Turtle Bay because the efforts that they made is why I have got sight in my left eye.
'Everything they did, that is why I do have that sight so I would like to thank them for that.
'I don't remember the fire service coming.'

The mother-of-six is in real danger of losing the sight in her right eye following the sickening street attack
Miss Whitlock is struggling to speak clearly after some of the acid from the attack got in her mouth.
The brave mother showed off the vast blanket of scars and scabs the attack left her with across her face and parts of her neck, right arm and hands. She has already had a corneal graft operation in her right eye, a transplant which involves removing the central part of the cornea and replacing it with a cornea from a donor. Her burns are being treated with white paraffin, which works like a moisturiser to relieve the pain. She continued: 'I had to have an operation on my right eye. ![]() ![]()
Geoffrey Midmore is being hunted by police in connection with an attack using a corrosive substance which left a 37-year-old woman badly burned
'It was just to save the eye at the moment, rather than my eyesight, they're trying to save the eye right now.
'I've got no sight in that eye. They've not ruled out me getting my sight back, but they're not hopeful. 'They have just said I'm going to have a few operations over the coming six months.' Police are hunting two brothers - Billy and Geoffrey Midmore - in connection with the attack.
