Police in the Eastern region have arrested a pupil teacher for defrauding over 588 people.
Michael Anumu Hope of the Asesewa Community DA Primary school defrauded accountants, marketers, pharmacists, lab technicians, teachers and engineers with the promise of recruiting them for some multinational companies.
The victims paid huge sums of money amounting to Ghc196, 000 to the suspect after he made them believe that the President and the Bank of Ghana have given him the green light for the establishment of Ghanaian subsidiaries of the multinational companies.
The victims were also convinced to pay for diplomatic passport fees, car registration, citizen fees, pension fees, Ebola fees, medical fees among others.
He later changed his mobile number and went into hiding after he failed to deliver the jobs to his victims.
Police arrested Hope from his hideout after the victims lodged complaints.
Hope is currently in Police custody awaiting charges.
