Sporting events dubbed "mega sport" provide an excellent opportunity to send a positive message to young people says a UN Envoy on youth.
The Mega sport event is the upbeat assessment of the UN Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth, Ahmad Alhendawi.
A high-level event was held at United Nations Headquarters this week to discuss the value of hosting mega sport events such as the Olympics, and football's World Cup.
It was co-organized by the Permanent Missions of Germany, Qatar, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation and Tunisia, together with the UN Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP).
UN's Clarita Montant, spoke to Mr Alhendawi about how spectacular events such as this summer's Olympics in Brazil, can inspire the young.
