LOKOJA—Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State, Tuesday, blamed the delay in the release of the N51 billion bailout fund to the state on some enemies working against the interest of the people of the state.

Wada accused them of deliberately frustrating the efforts of government at assessing the bailout fund meant for the payment of outstanding local government workers and teachers in the state.
The governor stated this at the palace of Agbana of Isanlu land, in Yagba East Local Government Area of the state, Oba Aaron Ikuborije, during his campaign in the area.
“We (government) had completed the necessary documentation needed to assess the fund but could not get the money because of the activities of “some wicked” people,’’ he said.
The governor, however, said he would continue to strive to ensure the release of the money, despite the plot by the said people who took delight in making life difficult for the beneficiaries of the bailout fund.
“I have already met with President Muhammadu Buhari and the governor of Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele over the issue, and they all assured me of the release of the money,’’ he said.
Wada also said the government had drawn N8 billion of the N20 billion bond approved for it, adding that the money was being spent on 12 projects across the state.
He, however, implored the people of the area to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the forthcoming election to ensure continuity of the projects.
Wada said: “If a new government that did not share the developmental vision of my administration is allowed in, many of such projects could be stopped and the people of the state would be worst hit.”
“My administration is ready to consolidate on the achievements of my first term in office through its four-point agenda that had been diligently executed in the last three and half years.’’
